Relocating back to the USA in 1979 he maintained his passion for music and within two years he was back in Sydney playing with many leading Australian musicians including Don Burrows, James Morrison and Bob Barnard. Soon after, Tom was playing with Trad Jazz Bands in Sydney. Tom was born in California in 1952, bringing his skills as a trumpet player to Australia in his late teens. Tom died suddenly in 2001 in the Netherlands while making a major tour of Germany and Holland. This year, Tom Baker (deceased) will be inducted posthumously into the Honour Roll of Australian Jazz, by Mildura’s River City Jazz Club.
